John Allen Paulos is an American professor of Mathematics at Temple University, Philadelphia once said that “Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.”
Since time immemorial and as of now uncertainty persists in every sphere of life. In the current time of industry 4.0 a lot of things are unpredictable, uncertain, and constantly changing. But, human spirit and zeal have tremendous abilities to face the uncertainties of the future with courage, optimism, and preparation.

Why Uncertainties In Life are Good?
- We often complain about uncertainties in our life. But think in your life if everything becomes certain and predictable there would be no variations leading to loss of enthusiasm, curiosity, interest, suspense in all your behaviour, roles, and activities.
- The result will be no purpose, no goals, and eventually no drive in you. End of the day who loves to spend purposeless, monotonous, boredom and mundane days? Probably no one of us ..
- If all your future certainties as well as uncertainties, you could watch right away in advance would it not be like a match-fixing? Would you like to watch that already fixed game in the comfort of your living room? Probably no one of us ..
- Think ..in a mysterious detective movie if you are informed about the climax and in advance you know who is the criminal would you like to spend money in booking your tickets and spending money on coffee and pop corns? Again probably no one of us ..
So, uncertainties are good, provided we develop our abilities to deal with them and manage them. Here is an attempt to share with you certain dealing mechanisms of personal or professional uncertainties of life. To understand that you first you need to know –
Why Do We Feel Things are Uncertain?
We are all governed by a master system. The master system has certain components in it, like – our evaluation process, our values, our rules, our thoughts, our identity, and finally the references we have set based on our past learnings and experiences.
Any incident that we tag as certain or uncertain and makes us feel good or bad is based on any or many of our master system components. The incident either may be out of your imaginary thoughts, does not fall into your value system, beyond the reach of your life’s rules, and based on that you have evaluated it and felt unhappy and upset.

So, let us discuss what are the most useful, effective, common, and scientific ways to deal with uncertainties in life that are required to be followed in the new world –
7 Ways to Deal with Uncertainties –
Distress and Stress are bad. Continual uncertainties lead to a stressful life. Practice eustress. Eustress is good stress which pushes you forward in the direction you desire.
It is an internal drive that throws you out as soon as the morning alarm rings, keeps you engaged in your work, and pushes you towards achieving your goals.
Dan Gable – Have you heard about one of the most successful men? An American player and coach who is a world gold medallist and Olympic gold medallist in wrestling. While taking physical rest he used to visualize that his competitors are practicing and that eustress pushed him back in practice hrs after hrs.
Start practicing Eustress aligned with your purpose of life.
2. Focus On What You Can control –
“ Do not worry what you can not control. Our focus and energy need to be on the things we CAN control. Attitude, efforts, focus – these are the things you can control” Tim Tebow
The best way to control what you can control is a regular practice of ‘Serenity Prayer’.

3. Readers are Leaders –
Reading and following books or articles on personal development will help you to stay away from the thoughts of uncertainties. This will transform you to be an architect of the future not as a thinker of ‘if’ / ‘but’ / uncertainties.
Affirm yourself by chanting “Stand up and fight! Not one step back, that is the idea… Fight it out, whatever comes …You gain nothing by becoming cowards…Taking a step backward, you do not avoid any misfortune” —- Holy Book Bhagavad Gita
4. Practice Mindfulness –
Mindfulness is a mental state of being at the present moment and cultivating awareness. Remember, “We live from moment to moment”. Focus on now.
Mindfulness regulates your emotions, reduces stress, anxiety, and depression.
Practice mindfulness by going for a walk, meditating, observing your breathing, cultivating only positive thoughts, regularly following personal development websites like you are currently reading, and maintaining a journal. Register your thoughts, ideas, insights, imaginations, plans into your journal every day. Try it out…It will eliminate all uncertainty anxiety from your daily routine.
5. Hope For the Best –
“Hoping for the best and preparing for the worst and unsurprised by anything in between” – Maya Angelou.
That should be another guiding principle to deal with uncertainty.
You must not be carried away with the thoughts of uncertainties, rather have to be optimistic. By optimism, one should firmly believe that the best is yet to come.
Remember, most people are not prepared. Chances of your survival, sustenance, and excellence are always more when you are prepared for the unprecedented worst.
6. See The Possibilities –
“ Every new day begins with possibilities” Ronald Reagan.
Do not be a prisoner of uncertainties, instead, look at the possibilities.
Develop ‘possibility mindset’.

Your ‘possibility mindset’ develops your vision. ‘possibility mindset’ also triggers your positive thoughts, unlocks your true potential and you start looking for multiple avenues when you start leveraging the same ‘possibility mindset’.
“ Yesterday is history,
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift”
Look at today’s possibility!
7. Engage in Self-Care –
‘Me-time’ is something which most people keep as last priority. But trust me that in your ‘me-time’ when you engage yourself for any kind of physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional developments your thoughts of uncertainties do not exist anymore.
Focus on your ‘me-time’. Plan your ‘me-time’ spending schedule. You will lead an amazing life with low stress with probably no uncertainties if you could add some amount of ‘me-time’ each day.
“Until you value yourself, you will not value your time. Until your value your time, you will not do anything with it”. – Scott Peck
